Chapter Twenty-Two

“Go get some rest,” I hear Creed’s voice. It’s muffled, like there is a barrier between us. Panic floods my chest, and I shoot up, hitting my head on the armrest on my way up.

“Ow.”

Creed opens the door, “did we wake you?”

I shake my head, rubbing the spot that took the hit. He helps me out of the car and into what I assume to be another underground garage. It looks eerily similar to Manson and Candy’s but with a few more bays.

“What’s the other guy's name?” I should probably stop referring to him as the guy with Luca if he is going to be around.

“Nile, he’s Diego’s brother. Diego is my head of security,” he speaks as he walks, and I follow. I don’t want to be stuck down here while Luca and Nile do whatever it is they do.

“Okay.”

“Why?” he throws a smirk over his shoulder.

“Because I should probably stop referring to him as ‘the other guy’ in my head.”

He laughs, “the other guy works for me.”

I roll my eyes but continue after him anyway. Creed types in a code near the door and a locking mechanism begins whirring as the gears click. The door in front of us pops open and he pushes it wide enough for us to go through.

We emerge through the door into a mudroom.

I must’ve missed something?

Does he plan on having a million children? There are cubbies upon cubbies, hooks drilled into the sage green wall, and a big area for what I assume to be dogs.

“Where are we? Summer camp?” I ask, still unsure where to look.

“This,” he motions with one arm, “is called a mudroom.”

“No shit, how many people live here?”

He shrugs, “I wanted to make sure we had enough space.”

“For a whole football team?”

He laughs and hooks his arm around my waist, “we have time.”

I push him away and take my shoes off, placing them in a cubby and walking through an arch. It is a short hallway, a chestnut door with mesh in the center sits to the left, and when I peer inside I notice vegetables and canned food.

“A pantry well stocked?” I smile a cheeky smile and continue.

The kitchen… holy fucking shit, the kitchen is huge. Cabinets line a whole wall, and the island can easily seat ten.

“Who are you feeding? An army?”

He chuckles, “not quite.”

“Creed, this place is huge,” I take in the state of the art appliances and crisp clean white cabinets. The countertops are a gorgeous marble, with gray and black veins.

I’m actually scared to look in the dining room, fearing that he had a custom table made to accommodate thirty people. So I pretend not to see it and continue on my merry way to the living room where I can hear voices. There are men on the couches, video game controllers in hand clicking buttons as fast as they can, jumping up and screaming at one another.

I look back at Creed with a raised brow.

“Boys,” Creed yells, “knock it off, there’s someone I want you to meet.
